4.0 out of 5 stars Very Impressed, April 9, 2011
This review is from: Canon VIXIA HF M40 Full HD Camcorder with HD CMOS Pro and 16GB Internal Flash Memory (Electronics)
Well, I have had this camcorder now for a week and tested it in many lighting situations and locations and I must say I'm very impressed. Outside filming my niece and dogs in the yard the videos are crisp viewed on my 40" Sony HD LCD TV. I would give it a 5 out of 5. In my eyes, looks broadcast quality. Indoors with varying light was also impressive although I did notice a little graininess. I'd give low light a 4 star rating. Being as anal as I am, I did a little test. Take it for what it's worth.

Now I am the most anal person you will probably meet and maybe set my expectations too high at times, but I started flipping through some of the HD channels on t.v. to do a little comparison and noticed too a bit of graininess if I stood right up to the television. Now I know nobody watches t.v from three inches away, I just wanted to compare what was being broadcasted to what I was able to film with this camera. I must say, this camera's footage is nearly spot on in many... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Mid-Range Camcorder - Excellent for Low Light, November 4, 2011
By

This review is from: Canon VIXIA HF M40 Full HD Camcorder with HD CMOS Pro and 16GB Internal Flash Memory (Electronics)
Well, stating that this is the best mid-range camcorder is quite a claim, but to be fair, it's not my assertion - that award was just bestowed on the M40 this week by CamcorderInfo.com ...and by mid-range, they mean video cameras priced between $500 and $1000. What makes this camera an even better deal is that you can get all three versions (M400, M40, and M41) for under $500.

Keep in mind that most reviewers of camcorders look at specs and then make a subjective judgment about the quality of the video. The CamcorderInfo.com folks (with whom I am not affiliated) do extensive lab-based testing to measure, for example, color accuracy, noise, and low-light performance in controlled and consistent conditions. The fact that they rate this camera so highly is high praise indeed. They also have a great 11 page review on the M40 if you are interested.

So why did they like this camera so much? Put simply, its sensor. This camera's sensor is larger and more... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Low Light Consumer Camcorder, PERIOD!!!, June 1, 2011
Don't listen to the negative comments. People always have something to complain about and their own preferences. However, this Camcorder has the lowest lux rating I've seen. I have the Canon HF M41. A viewfinder is a must have for me. I looked at more expensive camcorders. They all have their strong points, but for me, getting good footage in low light is the first priority. All those nice features the other brands have are great but not a must have. The low light of this camcorder is nothing short of Amazing. It has the same sensor as the XF105, a $4300 professional camcorder, . If someone tells you the difference is small and not a big deal, don't believe them. How many times have you been disappointed with low light grainy recordings ? I bought a $39 shoe mounted light and works beautifully. This is my 5th camcorder. My first was the original Hi8 from sony. That one and the 3 that followed gave me grainy low light video. We all hate grainy video. Now I don't have to deal with that... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Beyond my expectations, April 14, 2011

This review is from: Canon VIXIA HF G10 Full HD Camcorder with HD CMOS Pro and 32GB Internal Flash Memory (Electronics)
Since I was a little kid with an 8mm film camera, I have tried in vain to make videos that had the look and sound of professional TV and movie productions.

I failed in many ways, many times. Sometimes due to my meager skills, sometimes due to the short comings of my cameras.
The Vixia HF G10 changes that. I can no longer blame my equipment.

Let me say now, I am not a professional video/film maker. I have had no formal training. My videos are for my own enjoyment, I record special moments and travels for myself and my family. I seldom display or publish videos on the Web.

I placed my order on Jan. 5th, the day of Canon's new product announcement. Amazon was great, as usual, and kept my pre-order updated until the camera was released. I received it last week, and was immediately struck by the quality of the images.
So far, I have just been learning about the G10, and its features. I've made some stunning video studies of my flower and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Outstanding!, May 4, 2011
This review is from: Canon VIXIA HF G10 Full HD Camcorder with HD CMOS Pro and 32GB Internal Flash Memory (Electronics)
Let me first start out by saying, I originally wasn't going to spend so much on a new camcorder. I had bought the Canon HF 100 a few years ago, and was fairly happy with it. It was nice, but definitely had its drawbacks. So, I started researching Canon's new line for 2011 and was torn between the M40 and G10. Having the new CMOS Pro sensor was a must. Everything I read about the low light capabilities sold me. Basically Canon went with a smaller pixel count (exactly 1920 x 1080), which in turn makes the pixels larger and better in low light shooting. I originally bought the M40 and was very happy with it, but started to realize it wasn't fitting all my needs. That went back, and I went with the G10. I have not looked back since!

People might wonder what the biggest difference is between the two, and the big ones in my opinion are the manual lens control, wide angle lens (makes a HUGE difference in my opinion), larger LCD (3.5 in. vs. 3 in.), color viewfinder, and... Read more

I guess I was one of the lucky few who was able to get this camera early. I got mine 2 weeks ago and have been nothing but impressed with it. Right out of the box and in a medium lit interior room the picture was superb. I got a chance to take it out in the field for a bit and am extremely happy with it. Full manual control, a focus ring, an awesome and absolutely beautiful touch screen, what more could you ask for?

I especially appreciate the dual SD card slots and the recording options there. There are certainly going to be times where you'll want to record to 2 cards at once and that will come in handy. But the ability to also record to the internal memory and then copy the contents to one of the SD cards in the card slots is also a great option.

The other things that are not mentioned in a lot of the bullet points for this camera that I am impressed with include the waveform monitor and peaking meters which come in handy for the manual exposure and focus... Read more

How to buy Canon camcorder in USA.

| Friday, April 30, 2010
I want to ask about the Handycam camcorder to it.I would not know what information will be used to choose anyone. The information in the post.
A. Recommended to buy a Digital to Analog better than me in the long run. Especially in the cut or converted into other media. (Computer, DVD, VCD).
Two. To consider the weight. And it.
Three. The speed. To start with, then grab a few seconds. I have to start taking this up with that What will you do me if I take small children may miss the opportunity to take pictures. Just because I work with my camera.
Thank you good health _ Supachai Tnts (inflation) it.I asked.A. I give examples of Sony's not the handycam it is digital or not, and based Home formats, MiniDV, DVD - Entry HC Style / withUSB or format HDV is the media to be used for recording. Mini DV is a DVD and I got a small plate. They can be used with other storage media. I have the same camera. (And a lot of them around).Two. Type DVD Camcorder is or not.Three. Light weight and size. I agree with it. I recognize that I was a little before.Four. For speed, power OK, I was told that I need to look at the trailers and other equipment. Yes, I know.Help me.Mini DV is a DVD disc and use it. They can be used with other storage media. I have the same camera.
MiniDV tape is marked on a small roll. Each camera type. Most use the same media type it.
DVD Camcorder is a camcorder that records video and audio onto a disc.DVD can be done with a DVD player can do.(Not cut).
The current recommendation is to buy a camera with a tape recorder Mini DV.And the IEEE port or FireWire port to transfer data, video and audio editing on the PC.
The camera can shoot video. The quality is not good enough to actually use it. For more photos of players.
Digital Video cameras captured them. The Frame Rate to be considered too.If the shot is earnestly to me.
Thank you Naughty Paris.A. In my case, I would not cut it. (It is not at all) should I buy a DVD Camcorder is not being used.Two. A friend tells me that this is a small video camera that can record through a variety of card types, such as a Sony DVD player and the memory available in a Tin. True or not. I would not buy this.Three. Friend said (to me again) is a type of camera, Panasonic and Sony DVD Camcorder and can be edited in the camera. If this is true I bought it.
>> 1. In my case, I would not cut it. (It is not at all) should I buy a DVD Camcorder is not being used.

I think that I do not think. Will not cut it.I feel like some of them cut me ha ha.
But in fact it was recorded on DVD to be edited as well.
Only two posts on it.Because someone else has already answered.
Two. A friend tells me that this is a small video camera that can record through a variety of card types, such as a Sony DVD player and the memory available in a Tin. True or not. I would not buy this.
- If it's not far, if I have the DVD and memory stick in the same Most of the work it is.- Large image and video archive Night DVD.- The memory stick. The store still images or video is small. (This is not recommended. The quality is too low. Both still and video).
- Should be like buying a DVD Camcorder.
I calculated that I have a DVD recorder or a DVD RW blank if not cost saving, it is not so.I suppose it would be a $ 50 used once.
The roll is about 150-200 baht Mini DV tape can record more than 20 times.
Another advice. If someone is recommended to use a camera with a USB Straming the data with PC.I do not buy any. The technology is not sludge.I do not use a boat.
Thank you very much information in a playfulI summarize it like this. It is how you fix them too.A. If you look at the camera to DVD Camcorder to DVD using rewritable discs. If you use a Mini DV is better.- But it is also good. Mini DVR it. I can not imagine that it's music, but smaller. This is used to convert it into other media. For me, it's hard to see. According to my understanding of my camera if I can burn a DVD RW that would suit me more.Two. In connection with misbehavior in the way you should get the IEEE or FireWire port, a USB, it is better to use it.
This information will be three stories.A. Speed when activated.Two. Can use DVD RW discs can not (in my case, I use the DVD).Three. Connection. And price.
I have my answer. If there is more that I can not recommend it (see the smile return to my home).

Canon DC310,
I bought a video camera that is the Hard Disk is not known. The camera is better than a HDD to DVD.2 Connect the PC to process more complex. I understand that the DVD will be released on the PC.3 sizes to choose from such as Hard Disk, so much for me.I have the knowledge to help me.

Bottom line: A good value-oriented camera that works well with my Mac. It is easy to use with intuitive controls - although some of the advanced settings required me to read the instruction manual. For good quality home movies, it seems to be perfect; and the minor improvement in video quality available on higher-end models probably isn't worth the additional cost.

Opening the Box:
All items were packed securely in the box except the battery, which was just rattling around in the box; and the box was not taped shut. I don't know if this had to do with the seller or the manufacturer; but I wish that all manufacturers would get in the habit of sealing the boxes at the factory with security tape, so that there would be no question that the box remained sealed from factory to consumer. Maybe I am nit picking, but the lack of security tape on the box and the battery issue could signal larger quality control problems at Canon.

First Use:
My 16GB SDHC card did... Read more

I've had this camera for a while, along with a couple of others (JVC HM300BU and JVC X900).

Originally I bought it for the easy manual controls. I needed to do an "infinite white" backdrop and wanted to have extensive control over exposure and white balance.

After I had it for a while, I started discovering the incredible little hidden features. I have set-up a little studio, and much of what I've done on a budget, without spending thousands on professional equipment would have been impossible without the Canon HF R200.

I bought a wireless microphone and with a hot shoe side grip, fits perfect on the Canon.
I bought a high end headset, the camera supports it via the 2-function AV jack.
It has a grooved 50mm diameter, so you can add a Telephoto or a Wide Angle lens!
It can record at 24Mbps (if you have the computing power to edit BlueRay quality). Not that you ever will, I have shot in 7Mbps (Standard) and the quality is absolutely... Read more

I had this camcorder for about 3 weeks now. Mainly I have done small outdoors clips and one long school play. For low light indoors the best solution is movie mode at 24fps. This setting produced a great product for the school play. Outdoors with good light every setting that I have tried seems to give great results.
However make sure that you have a medium for playback capable of handling the video quality. For example my only option for full quality playback is directly to my 1080p TV. All of my computers struggle with the full quality video, and as a result the playback is choppy.
